3. Swim Beneath Kravice Waterfalls
Often compared to Croatia’s Krka or Plitvice, but with one major bonus: you can actually swim here.

The Experience: A massive semi-circle of 25-meter-high tufa cascades falling into a turquoise pool.

Cost: Entry is roughly £8–£10, and there are small bars right at the water's edge for a very scenic beer.

1. Watch the Bridge Divers in Mostar (Stari Most)

The 16th-century Ottoman bridge is the most famous sight in the country.

  • The Thrill: Local divers wait for enough tips before plunging 24 meters into the freezing Neretva River.

  • Lauren’s Tip: For the best photo, head to the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque and climb the minaret. It’s a tight squeeze, but the view of the bridge is unbeatable.

2. Drink "The Water of Return" at Sebilj, Sarajevo

In the center of the old bazaar (Baščaršija), there’s a famous wooden fountain.

  • The Legend: Local lore says if you drink the water from the Sebilj fountain, you are destined to return to Sarajevo one day.

  • The Vibe: It’s the perfect spot for people-watching (and pigeon-watching!) with a Bosnian coffee in hand.

3. Swim Beneath Kravice Waterfalls

Often compared to Croatia’s Krka or Plitvice, but with one major bonus: you can actually swim here.

  • The Experience: A massive semi-circle of 25-meter-high tufa cascades falling into a turquoise pool.

  • Cost: Entry is roughly £8–£10, and there are small bars right at the water's edge for a very scenic beer.

4. Find Inner Peace at Blagaj Tekke

A 600-year-old Dervish monastery built directly into a massive rock face at the source of the Buna River.

  • The View: The water comes out of a cave at an incredible 43,000 liters per second. It’s one of the most photographed spots in the Balkans for a reason.

5. Walk the Abandoned Olympic Bobsleigh Track

High above Sarajevo on Mount Trebević, the 1984 Winter Olympic bobsleigh track now serves as a massive canvas for graffiti artists.

  • The Journey: Take the Sarajevo Cable Car from the old town for a 10-minute ride with stunning views, then walk the ruins of the track back down.

6. Step into a Fairytale in Jajce

Jajce is the only town in the world with a 22-meter-high waterfall right in its center.

  • The History: It was the residence of the last Bosnian kings. Don't miss the Mlinčići—a cluster of 20 tiny medieval watermills just outside of town.

7. Hike the "Accursed" Sutjeska National Park

Home to Maglić, the country's highest peak, and Perućica, one of the last two primeval forests in Europe.

  • The Monument: Visit the massive, brutalist Tjentište War Memorial—it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

8. Explore Tito’s Secret Nuclear Bunker (Konjic)

Deep underground near Konjic lies ARK D-0, a massive atomic bunker built to protect the Yugoslav elite.

  • The Vibe: It was a state secret for decades. Today, it’s an eerie time capsule and a contemporary art gallery.

9. Visit the "City of Sun" (Trebinje)

Located just 40 minutes from Dubrovnik (but at 20% of the price), Trebinje is all stone bridges, vineyards, and Mediterranean vibes.

  • The Hack: If flights to Sarajevo are pricey, fly to Dubrovnik (DBV) and take a 30-minute taxi across the border to stay here.

10. Investigate the "Bosnian Pyramids" in Visoko

Archaeologists are skeptical, but many locals believe the hills surrounding Visoko are actually the world’s oldest man-made pyramids.

  • The Activity: You can tour the underground tunnel labyrinths which are said to have "healing energy." Whether you believe it or not, it’s a fascinating day trip.
